I am reduced to words


A poem,
Where I can brush your hand,
Stare out loud at your mouth
So loud the words 
curl    on   t h e i r      ends.


A verse, 
Where my vocal chords know your name,
But have forgotten how to 
E-nun-ci-ate  each  syll a ble.  


I have no want of  this silence-
To live in crumpled-up
Handwritten, red-lined mistakes.
But never was I  destined
To be anything else.
